upcoming murals

We see a bright future! These will be springing up soon.

pictures FROM the past

We've located a dozen or more walls that can proudly serve as mural locations. We are in the process now of getting approvals from the building owners and the City of Nacogdoches to proceed. And the funding, of course. Two murals are scheduled to be painted in the next six months, and several more are in various stages of development. Each mural will help to tell the story of our town from its beginning in 1716.

CAPTAIN DOMINGO RAMON
ON EL CAMINO REAL
Near southwest corner of E. Main and Mound Streets
Picture
The old Spanish road, El Camino Real, runs right through Nacogdoches along Highway 21. It was used by many traders and early Spanish explorers. One of these explorers, Domingo Ramon, stopped in Nac and helped to establish the first mission with Father Margil. Do you know one of his decendents actually lives here in Nacogdoches? This mural will be a tribute to Domingo Ramon along his historic route. We now have HLPC approval to proceed and a Call for Artists is eminent as soon as we can line up funding.

STILL IN PLANNING STAGES...

Recognize this wall? We hope it will become a tribute to the Caddo tribe who lived here long before we did.
